What is a balanced diet?

A balanced diet is what provides all the nutrients in the required amounts and in the right proportions. It can be easily obtained with a combination of basic food groups. A nutritious diet should provide about 50-60% of the total calories from carbohydrates, preferably in complex carbohydrates, about 10-15% of protein and 20-30% of both saturated and insoluble fats.
